So, what's his story?

Well some rather nifty line dancing moves worked wonders and managed to earn him enough dosh in 1995 to board a plane and join thousands of other Irish backpackers on-route to Sydney, Australia.

Here he waited on tables, crashed on any one's couch who would let him, and spent a lot of time on Bondi Beach... possibly getting very stoned... oh, and toying with the idea of becoming an actor, as one does.

A photographer named Stuart Campbell, met him via a mutual friend. And so naturally, Colin mentioned that he wanted to be an actor. So naturally Campbell offered to take his pictures. Such a lovely young man had just that special something to show off his photography skills... umm... check it out, 1920's here we come!

Not sure if was during, or after the photo-shoot, took place, which was at the the old Colgate Palmolive factory in Balmain, but now Campbell introduced Colin to Tony Knight. And he just happened to be the head of NIDA (National Institute of Dramatic Art). In return, Tony Knight recommended Colin to the Performance Space (National Centre for Contemporary Arts and Hybrid Performance Practice). WOW... trying saying that after a few Red Bulls!!!

Colin would go on to land the role of Steve Hart, in 'Kelly’s Reign'. It was apparently not a very memorable performance, but then it was about the life and times of Ned Kelly and his gang. And Ned Kelly didn't work for Mick Jagger's short-lived acting career either!

But luckily it mattered not because a star was born, or at least was in the making. Back in Dublin he attended the Gaiety Drama School and it wasn't long before he struck gold, or the next best thing to gold... at the time... becos it was work... acting work.... paid acting work... and on television. Yep Colin got to play the role of Danny Byrne, in the unforgettable BBC Country folks and pensioners favourite... Ballykissangel. Result for Colin, but not for those of us under the age of 65 and forced to watch it!

However, jesting aside, and probably a lot more in-between, but nevertheless... it all strangely seemed to do the trick, and the rest as they say is history!

Well done that smouldering Marlboro man...
